Neraida Ke To Palikari

Profound hatred divides the Vrontakis and Fourtounakis families in Crete. It is so profound and old that the reasons behind it have been virtually forgotten. As the families claim, their great-grandfathers' great-grandfathers had killed each other. No one knows however who started the vendetta. Katerinio (Aliki Vougiouklaki), captain Fourtounakis' (Dionysis Papagiannopoulos) daughter, is engaged against her will to captain Skandalakis (Spyros Kalogirou). During their engagement celebration, captain Vrontakis� (Giannis Argyris) son arrives from Athens and begins to flirt with captain Skandalakis� fiancι, without knowing who she is... The movie takes place in a small village a few months before WWII begins. Through the trials of a young couple, we are introduced to the countless calamities war brings. In our small village arrives Mirto Theodorou, the new teacher, to replace the old teacher, who held that position for about 40 years. Full of love for her job, and for the children of the village, she attempts to work with a new educational doctrine. One that does not use corporal punishment and yelling in order to discipline children. The parents do not take to heart the new methods, and their dissaproval grows more when they discover that she dates Stefanos, the son of the village president. The day of their wedding, Greece enters the war and Stefanos is called to serve... Lisa pretends to be sick and does not want to go to school because she did not study. When the doctor comes, he finds out. Lisa is trying to persuade him to lie to her mother. A young, bright and beautiful woman is unable to find work because people hire her to do one job and ask her to do "another". She decides to approach a well known businessman, who owns a fleet of ships, and ask him to allow her to travel to Australia in one of his ships... Mantalena

In a small Greek island, two opposing parties monopolise the prefferences of the locals. One supports captain Kosma, and the other supports captain George. When captain Kosmas dies, his daughter decides to take over his fishing boat in order to provide food for her family. Young and proud she has to fight for the prefference of the locals at a time when fishing is considered to be a man's job.
Our story though, takes a whole new spin when she meets the son of the other captain... Staring:  Aliki Vougiouklaki, Dimitris Papamihail, and Pantelis Zervos. In Greek, black & white, no subtitles or special features.
