History
The Minoan Bee is considered a symbol of wisdom and nobility. Inspired by an original gold pendant found in Malia, Crete, which is believed to have been presented as a bridal gift to a Minoan princess. It is an image of two bees facing each other, storing drops of honey in a honey comb. A stunningly symmetrical design!
The bee alone was one of the most popular symbols in Ancient Greece appearing on many decorative items including jewelry and coins. Its popularity is attributed to its productivity and precious products: honey and wax. In mythology it is found as a nymph and servant of Zeus or as a priestess of Goddess Demeter.
In modern times, bee designs or ornaments are given as a timeless symbol of creativity and harmonic synergy.
Please note: European jewelry orders typically ship directly from Greece to avoid tax and custom duties.
