Minoan House Ornament Replica, Archaelogical Museum of Herakleion
Makes a great Christmas Tree Ornament!
This ornament is part of a replica collection of house shaped ornaments found at the site of the Knossos Palace. Each one is different and depicts the façade of a Minoan House. Archaeologist Arthur Evans discovered the original ornamens as part of an ancient wooden chest decorated with these clay models. A pictures of the originals is shown under "More Pictures"
Please note: Our photo displays some variations. Each one is different and if purchasing a few, we can ensure that each one is a different house. These ornaments are a nice decoration with a Minoan flavor and each one comes in a presentation box. Make also great Christmas tree ornaments.
This fine museum quality replica is a unique "one of a kind" ceramic reproduction made from clay originating from the same fields where the original was found to ensure the same "look and feel" as the actual pqe. All paint decorations were also made replicating methods used by potters of the particular period. This is why this item is hard to distinguish from the original and requires the attached traditional lead stamp (shown as part of the description tag) that identifies it as a reproduction made by an authorized artist. Like the actual museum displays each piece is tagged with its description. This authentic doll replica includes a leather cord for displaying the doll from a stand or wall hook (not included)
