Greek Sacred and Secular Music Publications is very pleased to announce the release on compact disc of "Treasures of Byzantine Music." This album was recorded in 1953 by the Byzantine Chorale under the direction of Frank Desby. Several of Dr. Desby's choral settings of Greek Orthodox church hymns, as well as some of his transcriptions of Byzantine chants are included. In addition, the beautiful voices of Father Leonidas C. Contos and Father Anthony Kosturos are featured. The CD booklet contains historical information on the music, as well as translations of the hymn texts. This release would not be possible without the tireless and unselfish efforts of Deno Soteropoulos, who remastered the album, and Thomas B. Lappas, president of GSS, who provided the necessary funding. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
