Playing with Marbles is probably one of the oldest games in human existence. These marbles are close replicas of marbles on display at the National Archaeologican museum of Athens, and dated back to a period between the 1st and 2nd century BC. This is a set of eight marble replicas packaged in a clear acrylic box.
These marbles are fine museum quality replicas that are unique "one of a kind" ceramic reproduction made from clay originating from the same fields where the original was found to ensure the same "look and feel" as the actual piece. All paint decorations were also made replicating methods used by potters of the particular period. This is why this item is hard to distinguish from the original and requires the attached traditional lead stamp (shown as part of the description tag) that identifies it as a reproduction made by an authorized artist. Like the actual museum displays each piece is tagged with its description. Please note that due to the nature of the product no two marbles are alike and the ones you receive may have different patterns from the depicted ones.
