The representative sample of women costume of Thrace is Metaxades which took its name from the famous villages of the territory. The costume consists of the inner layer cotton dress with red sleeves and embroideries, the wool sleeveless black dress with gold and multicolor decorations and handmade needlework, the colorful apron and the double head kerchief which are suggested to be tied with flowers such as the authentic costume's "bourboula."
